Derek Warfield & the Young Wolfe Tones

January 5, 2012 in Important, Irish, Related Events, Uncategorized

Derek Warfield is an old hand in the Irish music buisness – he was a founding member of the original Wolf Tones (1963-2001) and has performed solo to pass on the musical tradition of Ireland to the Irish of America. The Young Wolf Tones are the newest venture by this legend – a gathering of young musicians to carry on the legacy of the old Wolfe Tones. They’ve performed in hundreds of concerts in six different countries since their creation in 2009.  Derek Warfield and the Young Wolfe Tones are known worldwide for their Irish patriotic ‘rebel songs’ and other traditional tunes. Derek is acknowledged by many in the business as an excellent front man whose introductions help modern audiences to understand the tone and meaning of many an old ballad.

This January they’ll be coming to Oahu for two shows. On Wednesday January 25th, they’ll be playing an all-ages show at Anna O’Briens. Ticket sales for this show will go towards the Honolulu St. Patrick’s Day parade. Attendees under 18 can come in free!

On Saturday, January 28th, Derek and the Young Wolfe Tones will be playing at the Irish Rose Saloon, in a show only open to those 21 or older.

Immediately following both concerts, the entertainment continues with the local Irish stylings of the Doolin Rakes, who will carry on the torch til 1:30 am.

Event sponsored by Jameson and Killians
